The creation of a platform naturally requires a strong attention to all legal aspects. This requires highly specialized expertise that cannot be provided by the partnership. For this reason, the project team worked in the past months with a team of legal experts coordinated by Thibault Verbiest, a senior legal expert with a profound insight into internet, AI, blockchain, fintech, cryptofinance, digital banking, e-commerce, cybersecurity and personal data protection laws and regulations, to research all the legal requirements and pitfalls associated with creating a new streaming service: licensing requirements, copyright, agreements with performing rights organisations, compliance issues, blanket licences, etc.

The research will serve, along with the results of a large stakeholder consultation conducted in 2024, to pave the foundations of the forthcoming Fair Music streaming platform.
